Moo made this vest at school. She felted the wool and sewed it together. She's super pleased with her efforts.
And the reading comment is because children in Steiner schools aren't taught to read until a later age. Mollie is actually coming along quite well with her literacy skills in addition to her crafting ones!
Mollie, that's fantastic!! You have done a superb job on this one. The colours are just beautiful, and your hand sewing is so neat!
Sarah, she is miles ahead on what my 6yr brings home from school from her art/craft lessons. Grace would way rather be felting and sewing, than cutting and pasting. I might have to do something fun like this with her in the holidays.
Beautiful Work Mollie! The apple doesn't fall from the tree in your household Sara. I wish we had Steiner. IMO more harm is done by good than pushing kids before they are ready and unfortunately in most schools there is so much pressure to get kids to meet external standards there isn't the option of allowing kids to develop at their own pace.
My kids dont go to school. My 6yo learned to read at 3, easily by 4. Give her a needle and she wouldnt have a clue where to go. My almost 5yo is learning to read, but loves to craft (needlefelted a dragon almost by himself) and my 3.5yo has only just weaned and can count to 10 via 18 HHAHAHAH.
They are all so different :)
Love the top, that would be something I'd be proud of for a loooong time :)
that is fantastic Sara, Mollie you sure do take after your Mum, very talented indeed. Keep this one Sara for her to look back on when she is an adult, she will love it!

Thanks Naomi! I'll show Moo your comment in the morning. I'm sure she will be thrilled.
You've reminded me that I need to post a photo of the boat that she built in their woodworking lesson.

Way to go Moo. Love the colours.
Wow, I wish my 6 year old would make things like this at school! Just wonderful!
Mollie - you have done a brilliant job. Love the colours, everything went wonderfully. Well done.
Absolutely beautiful!
Talent runs in the family!
Gorgeous piece! Color composition and model! Can't believe that she constructed that herself! She sure has talent for these things!
Oh my goodness, she is quite right to be pleased, it is truly magical!
